An ABC News/Ipsos poll released on Sunday shows Harris leading Trump by a narrow margin of 5 percentage points.
48% of the 1,000 registered voters view Harris favorably, marking a significant improvement from July, when only 32% had a positive opinion of her candidacy.
This marks the largest increase in favorability for a politician since President George W. Bush’s approval ratings surged in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, attacks.
In a separate CBS News poll conducted from September 18-20, Harris maintains a 4-point lead over Trump, with 52% of likely voters supporting her compared to 48% for Trump.
These results align with other national surveys, such as those from Reuters/Ipsos, indicating a highly competitive race as the November 5 election draws nearer.
Harris’s campaign has confirmed that she will participate in an upcoming debate hosted by CNN on October 23, underscoring her commitment to engaging with voters.
Despite Harris’s growing lead, Trump continues to enjoy significant support on key issues like the economy and immigration.
Trump has stated that if he loses the election, he would not seek the presidency again.
