Doctor Kurien had revolutionized the milk market of India, his ideas are being followed even today, but his potential could only be executed due to the platform provided by Amul, the largest milk producer in India as of today.

Amul has a huge economical turnover annually which makes it world's largest cooperative, and has a vast product range, however they are all milk based, making milk one of the most consumed commodities in the market.

Importance of "Milk Day" lies in the fact that the dairy sector is central to the country's economy and is the largest agricultural commodity to be produced, employing several crore farmers especially women, making India the largest milk producer.
