Harris plans to make the formal announcement via a video message before appearing at an evening rally in Philadelphia with Walz.
Harris's selection of Walz, a governor from the North-Central region and a war veteran, aims to bolster her campaign's position in this crucial area.
Walz has enacted a Democratic agenda in Minnesota, including protections for abortion rights and support for families.
Walz's background includes serving as a high school teacher, union member, and 24 years in the Army National Guard.
Harris hopes Walz's appeal will help counter Trump's efforts to win key states like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
The decision to choose Walz was reached after a rushed selection process following Biden's decision not to seek re-election.
Walz has been a strong public defender of Harris, describing Republicans Trump and Vance as "simply weird" in a viral interview.
The Harris-Walz ticket will make its first public appearance in Philadelphia and tour key states to generate enthusiasm before the Democratic Party convention.
