This time, there is a little bit of difference. The teams have been increased. For the first time in the history of Europe, 36 teams will be participating in the Champions League. The format of the tournament has been amended in such a way that the best teams or a quality side can face each other more frequently in the tournament. Till the year 2023, there were 32 teams. These teams were divided into eight groups of four and the top two teams qualified for the knockouts which started in the round of 16. But from this season, the format is a bit different. Instead of groups, the teams will play in a “ league phase” which is newly introduced. In this new format, each and every team will play four home matches and four away matches, therefore eight matches against different opponents.
