Floyd Mayweather, a boxing legend, had an exhibition fight against John Gotti III that turned into a big fight. Several videos of the fight have been shared online, and some claim the fight was between supporters. This was Mayweather’s first fight in the United States since his match with Logan Paul in June 2021. Although he retired from professional boxing in 2017 with an undefeated record of 50 wins, Mayweather continues to participate in exhibition fights that don’t count towards his official career record.
According to Sports Illustrated (SI), Mayweather wasted no time and attacked Gotti in the first two rounds with powerful punches. Mayweather continued his dominance even in the third round. However, things got ugly in the fourth round when an argument broke out between the fighters. The argument escalated in the fifth round, and the referee stopped the match in the next round. However, Gotti approached Mayweather, and they continued swinging punches even after the bell, as seen in viral videos. The fight enraged the supporters of both fighters, leading to clashes between them. Mayweather was escorted back to his dressing room by his team. Gotti III, in a series of Instagram messages after the fight, called Mayweather an “enemy for life” and claimed that the disqualification was unjustified.
The aftermath of the fight worsened when Gotti’s sister, Nicolette, allegedly threatened Mayweather’s daughter on Instagram. She made derogatory comments and threatened to come after Mayweather’s daughter in the future. Mayweather’s daughters had teased the public reveal of Yaya’s 2-year-old son before the fight, and Mayweather was seen holding his grandson shortly before the brawl. The fight ended in controversy when Gotti disagreed with the referee’s stoppage and attacked Mayweather. This led to a brawl involving both fighters’ camps. Mayweather and Gotti were then escorted to their respective locker rooms.Following the fight, there were reports of another fight breaking out backstage between rappers and reality TV stars Joseline Hernandez and Big Lex. Mayweather, who retired from professional boxing after defeating Conor McGregor, has participated in seven exhibition bouts. Gotti III has a record of 5-1 as an MMA fighter and holds a 2-0 record as a professional boxer.
