Trump Pledges Death Penalty for Child Traffickers and Drug Dealers in Arizona Rally, Targets Harris in Tight Race

2024 Election, Death Penalty, Donald Trump, Kamala Harris

Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, advocated for imposing the death penalty on drug traffickers and those involved in the sexual trafficking of minors and women. Speaking from Arizona, near the Mexican border, the New York billionaire stated that if he returns to power, he will enforce tougher sentences against “illegal alien criminals.” This includes a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years for anyone guilty of human trafficking, a guaranteed life sentence for anyone guilty of child trafficking, and the death penalty for anyone guilty of sexual trafficking of children or women.

Trump further expressed his determination to apply the death penalty to major drug traffickers, extending his punitive approach to other violent crimes. “We will also impose the death penalty for anyone killing our police sheriffs, border patrol ICE, or law enforcement officials,” he declared, emphasizing the need for quicker and more effective trials without prolonged processes that, according to him, “everybody gets exhausted.”

In the event of defeating Vice President and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in November, Trump reiterated that the United States will be “great again.” He promised to “free” the United States from “illegal aliens, drug dealers, robbers, murderers, gang members, and child predators,” with the goal of restoring the nation’s safety and greatness. “We will make America safe again for our citizens, and make it greater, stronger, better, more beautiful than ever,” he concluded.

During his appearance in Arizona, Trump reiterated his intention to achieve a “strong border” if he returns to power after the November 5 elections. He took the opportunity to attack his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, describing her as a “radical left Marxist” who wants open borders. “I won’t understand why anybody would want it, but she wants our country to be open to the world’s criminals so they can come in and rape and pillage, and do whatever they have to do,” he said. He claimed that crime in the United States is “unbelievable” and constitutes an “onslaught of violence at a level that nobody’s ever seen before for nearly four years.”

Trump visited the border just hours before U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris delivered her speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Harris has raised a record $500 million in a month and has narrowed the gap or taken the lead over Trump in many battleground state polls. Nationally, she leads Trump 46.6% to 43.8%, according to a compilation of polls by FiveThirtyEight.

Trump has been central to his rhetoric since his first presidential campaign, consistently using the phrase “great again” to rally support. His visit to the border underscores his continued focus on immigration and crime as key issues in his campaign platform.
