Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin have decided to cancel their engagement and end their seven-year relationship. The Fifty Shades of Grey actress and the Coldplay frontman, who had been one of Hollywood’s most stable and admired couples, have broken up after growing apart due to their professional careers, according to the Daily Mail.
The couple, who began dating in 2017, had kept their relationship out of the public eye, except for a few appearances at events and on social media. Apparently, the actress was photographed last weekend without her engagement ring while walking her dog in Malibu, where she used to live with the singer. Additionally, there has been speculation about their separation since May, when Martin gave a fan a ride, and she later posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the singer was “single.” However, the couple seemed to be together in June when a source told People magazine that their relationship was still “strong.” Now, a few months later, the couple has split after a summer in which they barely saw each other.
This is not the first time the couple has broken up. In 2019, they had a brief split, which was reportedly caused by Martin pressuring her to have children. Shortly afterward, they got back together.
