The final game of the NFL’s Super Wildcard Weekend saw the Dallas Cowboys dominate the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, led by quarterback Tom Brady. The final score of 31-14 does not reflect the extent of the defeat suffered by the Buccaneers. They were outmatched from the start and Dallas was in a league of their own that night. Former Buccaneers tight end, and ex-teammate of Brady, Rob Gronkowski, had previously referred to the Cowboys as “pretenders” on a pre-game show with FOX, but Monday night’s game proved him wrong. Now the real question arises, Did Gronkowski really apologize to Dallas Cowboys?
Gronk admitted he was mistaken and apologized on the air with Kay Adams, saying “They proved me wrong this year … I gotta give it to the Cowboys.” He showed humility in acknowledging the Cowboys success, but he did not change his prediction for the Divisional round, picking San Francisco 49ers instead, he considered them “too stacked.”
The Dallas Cowboys led by quarterback Dak Prescott will be facing a tough challenge as they head to Santa Clara to take on the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers have gained a lot of support from fans this season, for good reason. They have been a winning team throughout the year. The last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft was Brock Purdy, who was the 49ers’ third-string quarterback at the beginning of the season, but has now become a key player in the team’s success.
As the season progressed, Brock Purdy went from the 49ers’ third-string quarterback to the team’s starter due to injuries to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo. He has not only filled in as the de facto starter but also played exceptionally well considering the circumstances. It would be unwise to assume that Dallas will have an easy time facing a team with a seventh-round rookie quarterback. The Cowboys will have a challenging game ahead of them as they go up against Kyle Shanahan’s highly skilled squad.
