Defending Champions India will start their title defense on 19th July, Friday, against arch-rivals Pakistan. India has a strong record head-to-head against Pakistan, with India winning 11 of the 14 matches played between the two, while Pakistan has won 3. The runners-up in the previous Asia Cup, Sri Lanka, will host this season’s tournament. Eight teams will be participating, divided into two groups. India, Pakistan, Nepal, and UAE are in Group A, and host Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Thailand are in Group B.
The tournament will start on 19th July, and the final will be played on 28th July. All the matches are scheduled to be played at Dambulla, Sri Lanka. Fifteen matches will be played in total, of which 12 are group stage matches. The Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format. This time, the tournament is very crucial because the T20 World Cup is barely two months away. Teams will be looking to use this tournament as an opportunity for a dress rehearsal. India has been the most dominant side in the tournament, having won the title seven times, and they are the clear favorites this time as well.

India’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, has said that the team environment should be positive when competing in these tournaments. “I feel like there should be such an atmosphere in the team that everyone enjoys each other’s company and can share their feelings with each other. And when the atmosphere is like that, the team’s performance becomes good as well. So, that is my motive as a leader, that all of us feel comfortable with each other. And when you don’t enjoy it, you feel like you’ve to go and play with players who you’re not comfortable with,” she said.
The tournament will be live telecast on the Star Sports Network on TV, and live streaming will also happen on Disney + Hotstar. All the matches will start at 2 PM and 7 PM respectively in Indian Standard Time (IST).
