Young Lakshya Sen, playing in his first Olympic tournament, has created history, and all Indians are proud of him. He continued his good form in this all-important quarterfinal and has defeated his Chinese Taipei counterpart, Chou Tien Chen, to secure a semifinal place in the Badminton Men’s Singles at the Paris Olympics 2024. After winning the quarterfinals, Lakshya becomes the first Indian man to reach the semifinals of the Badminton Men’s Singles. The match was a nail-biter with ebbs and flows throughout. Eventually, Lakshya defeated Chou Tien Chen, taking the game to the third round with scores of 19-21, 21-15, 21-12.

Lakshya is having a great debut in the Olympics, having beaten Indonesia’s Jonathan Christie and his Indian compatriot HS Prannoy before qualifying for the quarterfinals. Before him, players like Parupalli Kashyap and Kidambi Srikanth had made it to the quarterfinals of the Olympics. Now, in the semifinals, Sen will play against either Viktor Axelsen, the defending Olympic champion, or Loh Kean Yew of Singapore.
