Spider-Man Noir

Nicolas Cage is trading his Spider-Man voice role for the real thing. Prime Video just revealed the first look at Cage in his Spider-Noir costume – complete with a dark fedora, white goggles, and a classic detective’s trench coat.

“Spider-Noir tells the story of an aging and down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero,” Vernon Sanders, Amazon MGM Studios TV head explains.

Here’s what makes this show special – you can watch it in black-and-white or full color. Sanders calls this “likely a first of its kind” for TV. The show hits MGM+ first, then lands on Prime Video the next day for viewers worldwide in 2026.

The creative team packs some serious talent. Harry Bradbeer, who gave us shows like “Fleabag” and “Killing Eve,” is directing the first two episodes. The team that brought “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” to life – Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal – are helping shape this new series too.

Joining Cage is a strong cast. Lamorne Morris plays Robbie Robertson, while Brendan Gleeson takes on the role of a philosophical mob boss. Li Jun Li appears as a nightclub singer, Abraham Popoola plays a World War I veteran, and Jack Huston rounds out the main cast as a bodyguard.

Sony Pictures Television is producing the series exclusively for MGM+ and Prime Video. They’ve shown a moody black-and-white teaser at Amazon’s presentation, giving viewers a taste of the show’s style.

This marks Cage’s first regular TV series role, building on his voice performance from “Spider-Verse.” The show mixes superhero action with classic detective noir, bringing a fresh take on the Spider-Man story.

The series is set to release in 2026, bringing together the noir setting of 1930s New York with superhero elements. Between the dual viewing options and the noir setting, “Spider-Noir” combines detective storytelling with superhero action.
