Donald Trump has chosen three well-known actors – Mel Gibson, Jon Voight, and Sylvester Stallone – to help fix Hollywood’s problems. He made this announcement on Truth Social, saying these stars will be “Special Ambassadors to Hollywood.”
The movie industry is going through tough times. Movies are making less money – box office earnings dropped to $8.7 billion last year, which is 23.5% less than before COVID hit in 2019. Productions in the greater Los Angeles area are down 5.6% from 2023.
“Hollywood has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries,” Trump wrote. He wants these actors to be his “eyes and ears” in the entertainment world. When they suggest something, Trump says, “I will get done what they suggest.”
The timing of this news is important. Southern California, where most movies are made, is dealing with dangerous wildfires. These fires have killed 25 people and caused about $250 billion in damage. Many people working in movies and TV have lost their homes.
The actors Trump picked have been supporting him for years. Stallone recently spoke at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club, calling him a “second George Washington.” Voight has said Trump is “the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln.”
