In USA, President Trump wants to undo the work done by Biden. But after four years, suppose a Democratic President is elected, she/he can reverse whatever Trump admin has undone. The new admin can rejoin WHO.
Luckily for the USA, the founding fathers of the US constitution have engraved the theory of ‘separation of powers’ between Legislature, Executive and Judiciary. There is check and balance among the 3 branches of government. Because the US constitution allows space for dissent. Differences of opinion actually strengthen democracy as it is the government of the people, by the people and for the people.
But in many democracies, any opposite view is prohibited. In China, the second largest populated country, anybody who opposes the communist politbureau, is put behind bars. In Bangladesh, the Prime Minister had to flee from the country in order to save her life. Now the supporters of Mohammed Yunus, the Nobel Laureate ruler, have burnt the residence of Banga Bandhu (the Brother of Bangladesh), the late Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

In South Korea, the President is in jail for bringing that country under martial law. So live and let live is to be followed if we want to live democratically. Tolerance is the virtue of a true democrat. Democracy is costly, but there is no alternative to it. Resilience is expected in a democratic society.
Therefore, USA and India, the richest and largest democracies of the world have followed this principle of give and take. In this background, it is heartening to learn that Chandrika Tandon’s chant album was awarded a Grammy.
The Mantra chanted in this music album is as follows: “Om Sahana Vavatu saha nau bhunaktu, saha veeryam karavaavahai, Tejaswini vadheetmastu, ma vidvishavahai.” Meaning of this chant is: Let us protect together, let us enjoy together, let us do acts of valor together, let us not hate each other.
In short, cooperation and tolerance are the bedrocks of a democratic way of living. There is always space for dissent in a true democracy. In fact, democracy is based on the principle of give and take.
