Gabby Thomas, the experienced American sprinter, has finally managed to win the gold medal she had been waiting for a long time. She won the gold in the 200m finals at the Paris Olympics. Gabby claimed the gold by overtaking Julien Alfred, who had to settle for the silver medal. At the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, Gabby had won the bronze medal and also secured a silver at the World Championships held last year. But the gold medal had always eluded her, and finally, in the 200m race, she won the final to clinch the gold medal. She appeared more relieved than ever before.

In previous competitions, she was focused on her goal of winning a gold medal at the Olympics. Coming into the race, Gabby crossed the finishing line in 21.83 seconds. After winning the gold medal, she had a bright smile on her face and held her hand to her head, expressing a sense of happiness and relief. Alfred was ahead at the start of the race, but Gabby overtook her. Another American sprinter, Brittany Brown, secured third place and took the bronze medal.
After the race, a delighted Gabby Thomas said, “Running track in college, there were many times where I thought I would quit. When I went pro, the growing pains of joining a professional training group are real; there are a lot of egos. I didn’t think I was going to be cut out for it. I told my agents, ‘I’m out and I’m done.’” She had a pug dog with whom she trained and credited the dog for improving her running. “There were a lot of expectations. And that was definitely a lot more pressure. And I had to adapt. That’s what all of the best athletes do,” Thomas said.
