Halle Bailey Granted Restraining Order Against Ex DDG Amid Abuse and Custody Dispute Over Son Halo

Relationship

“The Little Mermaid” star Halle Bailey now has legal protection from her ex-boyfriend DDG after telling a judge he hurt her and made her fear for her safety. The court stepped in on May 13, 2025, ordering DDG to stay away from both Bailey and their baby son.

Bailey, who’s 25, shared a scary story about what happened in January. While trying to put their 17-month-old son Halo in a car seat, she says DDG started calling her names. They fought and wrestled, and during the struggle, he pulled her hair and slammed her face into the steering wheel, leaving her with a chipped tooth and bruises.

“I can’t allow this abuse any longer,” Bailey told the court. She explained that DDG would often yell at her in front of their son, using words like “evil” and worse.

But the problems didn’t stop there. In March, Bailey says DDG showed up at her house when she wasn’t home. He sent her a threatening message with a picture of her empty bed. When she didn’t want to send their sick baby with him later that month, she says he broke her doorbell camera and grabbed her phone.

What makes this situation even worse is how DDG, who’s famous on YouTube and Twitch, used his online fame against Bailey. She says he would tell his millions of followers lies about her, leading his fans to send her threats. They even started using a hashtag “#freehalo” that scared her.

Bailey needs to travel to Italy soon for two months of filming. She’s asked the court to let her take Halo with her, explaining she’ll have family and a nanny to help care for him while she works.

DDG’s mom has jumped into the fight, posting on Instagram about “all the negativity, the lies and hatred” toward her family. But Bailey isn’t backing down – she’s asked the court to make DDG take a year-long program for people who hurt their partners.

The court will decide on June 6 if Bailey needs longer protection. For now, DDG has to stay 100 yards away from Bailey, Halo, and places like Halo’s school.

This whole situation started after their breakup in 2024. They’d been together since 2022 and had baby Halo in December 2023. Even before these latest problems, they were arguing about how to raise their son. Last November, Bailey got upset when DDG put Halo on a live stream without telling her first.

The story shows how breaking up gets even harder when social media gets involved, especially for famous parents trying to raise a child together after splitting up.
