Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris raised more than triple the funds for her presidential campaign compared to her Republican rival Donald Trump, the US Federal Election Commission (FEC) said in the early figure.
Harris saw $189 million flow into her coffers in the current month compared with $44 million raised by Trump. Democrats have witnessed an increase in financial fundraising since US President Joe Biden called off his re-election bid.
The FEC highlighted that Harris’ Democratic campaign, her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and the DNC have $235 million to use in the final 2 months before the election On November 5, compared with Trump’s $134 million.

The FEC revealed that spending on the Harris-Walz campaign reached $204 million last month, almost 3 times as much as the Trump campaign outlays of $47 million. However, the campaign and national committee spending showed a less extreme split.
Harris splurged $445 million so far into her sprint for the presidency. Meanwhile, Trump and Republicans spent $178 million on the campaign. Despite the Harris campaign’s cash advantage, the polls – nationally and in swing states – indicated by the New York Times, the extremely tight race between the candidates. Both campaigns of Harris and Trump stressed that most of their expenditure was on advertisements, with smaller sums paying for rallies, travel, and campaign staff salaries.
Meanwhile, the US presidential race has acquired all the trappings of drama, suspense, high stakes, power play, violence, and sleaze. The excitement and anxiety are mounting as the contest gets progressively tighter and the day of reckoning draws closer.
It is not hard to believe that till the other day, one could barely stifle a yawn at two aging gladiators sparring with each other. With the unprecedented withdrawal by President Joe Biden, the race has become a spirited generational contest between eloquence and bombast, between entitlement and accomplishment, between hope and fear, and between harmony and bigotry. At least that is what the Democrats would have you believe!
In short, Harris has raised almost 3 times more than Trump for her presidential campaign in August. As of now, Kamala Harris is 2 to 3 percentage points ahead of Donald Trump in nationwide opinion polls, but her lead in some of the battleground states is under 1% point like Pennsylvania and Nevada.
