San Diego Padres put up a spirited show in the final two matches of the series. Despite being comprehensively beaten by a 7-0 margin, the Padres showed excellent resilience and determination to win the series. The Cleveland Guardians are a star-studded team with brilliant game changers, but they still fell short against a spirited Padres. Michael King showed outstanding resistance by not allowing a hit until the seventh inning. Kyle Higashioka had a terrific two-run double to seal the match for San Diego Padres, as they beat the American League Central team Cleveland Guardians with a 2-1 margin.
Though the Cleveland Guardians tried to make a fightback when Angel Martinez scored in the seventh inning through a single to center, it was not enough to stop the Padres from hitting the last nail in the coffin. King’s potential second no-hitter in the franchise was broken when Martinez scored the only point for the Guardians. The right-hander Michael King left the Yankees in a mega deal on December 7, 2023.
“I felt like I made a good pitch, but soft contact found the hole. I know we can compete with the best teams like Cleveland. And at home, they’re incredible, but I thought we handled their lineup pretty well,” said Michael King.
