Tuesday, September 10th, will be marked as an important day in the USA as former US President Donald Trump and present Vice President Kamala Harris prepare for a face-off in their bid for the presidential election, which is less than 2 months away. This debate will be the first such occasion at which Trump and Harris—the presidential candidates for the Republicans and Democratic party, respectively—will share the stage. Reports claim that they never met each other in person.
Meanwhile, the former Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney decided to support Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. Cheney said on Wednesday that “Because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, not only am I not voting for Donald Trump, but I will be voting for Kamala Harris,“ as she cites her credentials as a “conservative,” as someone who believes in and cares about the constitution.
Cheney came out to support Harris at a rally in North Carolina with videos of her comments posted on social media platform X. Once considered a Republican royalty, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney was ostracised by the party after she co-chaired a Congressional Panel Investigating the Capitol Hill riots that happened on 6th January, 2021.
She paid the price by losing her seat in Congress to a Trump-backed challenger in her 2022 Republican primary in Wyoming. Meanwhile Tulsi Gabbard strongly expressed that, “A vote for Kamala is a vote for Dick Cheney, Hillary Clinton, and the woke warmongering cabal.”

Harris is also successful in wooing small donors, as she managed to accumulate donations worth $200 million by July and crossed the $540 million mark in August. She is considered one of the fiercest critics of her Republican belligerent Trump, citing his alleged inaction and provocation that led to the US Capitol Riot; as she claims, it was his effort to overturn the election results, mandating a Democratic win.
This presidential battlefield is different than it was 2 months ago, when President Biden‘s dismal debate performance spurred a wave of concern over his ability to defeat Trump, the Republican nominee. Since then, a lot has happened, including the assassination attempt of Trump, his acceptance of the Grand Old Party presidential nomination, Biden dropping out of the race, and Harris clinching the Democratic Party’s nomination. Since then, Biden has supported Harris in her election campaigns.
Harris has been preparing grounds in swing states after Biden tasted defeats in state polls and now stands virtually tied in a tough fight with Trump. The event will air at 9 PM ET for 90 minutes from the National Constitution Centre in Philadelphia. It will be a nail-biting debate, a world-wide event watched by common people and political pundits all across the world.
