Yankees vs. Rangers: The Rivalry Reignites Tonight!

Baseball Highlights, Game Preview, MLB Rivalry, September Showdown, Yankees vs. Rangers

The Texas Rangers and New York Yankees are one of the greatest rivals in the history of sports. The start of their rivalry goes back to 1993  where the Yankees had beaten the Rangers three times. First in the first round of playoffs and then defeating them at the World Series in the same year. Then after eight when both teams again squared off against each other in 1998-99  Rangers took their revenge as they won two consecutive AL west championships where the then manager Oates played a big part. But this rivalry has always been a bit topsy-turvy. After conceding defeat in back to back AL world championship Yankees have beaten Rangers in the playoffs. Getting the better of Rangers in all the six matches. From the year 1999 to 2012 and then in 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2021, these two teams played a lot between them.

Over three years these two teams played six games, each three at each ballpark. Overall Texas and the Yankees have played  177 games since 1993. The New York Yankees had carried an upper hand against their iconic rival Texas Rangers. The New York Yankees have won 103 matches where the Rangers have won 74 matches. So this rivalry has always been an exciting one. The fans have always waited eagerly for this iconic match and this time also it is no different.

Coming into the match which will be played on 3rd September, tonight. This will be the 2nd match in a three match series. Last Monday Yankees won the opening match of the series against the Rangers. Gleyber Torres played brilliantly, went 3-5 and drove in a pair, whereas Gerrit Cole smashed a single run over six innings as Yankees beat Rangers with a score line of 8-4.
