Congress has approved Donald Trump’s request to cancel $9 billion in funding for various foreign aid programs and public broadcasting.
The bill passed Congress on a 216-213 vote and now it will move forward for the President’s signature.
The cut in funding is a major blow to the Corporation of Public Broadcasting as it cuts $1.1 billion in funding for the CPB. Various local television news and radio stations rely on these funds to operate especially in rural areas. They serve as vital source of information in emergency situations like floods, earthquakes and tsunamis.
The now Congress passed bill will see a reduction of $8 billion in funding towards various programs of foreign aid like emergency shelter, food programs, and health care.

Doanld Trump has threatened to sue The Wall Street Journal and its owner, Rupert Murdoch over a report published by the newspaper that a birthday letter was allegedly sent by Trump to Jefferey Epstein in 2003.
Donald Trump in a lengthy post on Truth Social said that he had informed both Rupert Murdoch and Emma Tucker, the editor of the newspaper about the letter being a fake one and warned them not to go with it.

Relenting to the persistent outcry over the Epstein files, Donald Trump has ordered officials to release documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case subject to court agreement. The issue has snowballed since the Department of Justice said that Jeffrey Epstein did not maintain a client list and no further document will be released related to the case. The issue caused a rift between MAGA supporters and the Trump administration especially with Pamela Bondi, far-right supporters had accused Bondi of mismanaging the case.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump called it a Democrat scam.
