Acting on his “take-it-or-leave-it” policy, Donald Trump in a series of posts on Truth Social notified many countries of new tariffs that will come into effect on August 1, 2025.
The letter reads the tariffs will be separate from all sectorial tariffs, trans-shipped goods will incur higher tariffs, and reciprocal tariffs will be add-ons.
- Malaysia is imposed with 25 per cent.
- Loas is imposed with 40 per cent
- Kazakhstan is imposed with 25 per cent.
- South Africa is imposed with 30 per cent.
- Tunisia is imposed with 25 per cent.
- Republic of Serbia is imposed with 35 per cent.
- The Kingdom of Cambodia is imposed with 36 per cent.
- Bangladesh is imposed with 35 per cent
- Bosnia and Herzegovina is imposed with 30 per cent.
- Indonesia is imposed with 32 per cent.
- Thailand is imposed with 36 per cent.
- Myanmar is imposed with 40 per cent.

Donald Trump in a letter to the President of South Korea Lee Jae-myung notified him of new tariffs on South Korea post August 1. Trump in the letter says the US has suffered from trade deficits due to tariffs and trade barriers placed by South Korea. Trump calls the trade relationship “unfortunate” and far from reciprocal.
“Starting August 1, 2025, we will charge Korea a tariff of only 25% on any and all Korean products sent into the United States, separate from Sectorial Tariffs” reads the letter.
It further notes that any reciprocal tariffs by South Korea will be added by the same on the 25% tariff by the US.
Japan has also been notified of equal tariffs.

In a post on Truth Social Donald Trump said Jair Bolsonaro is the victim of a political witch hunt and should be left alone.
The former Brazilian president is facing trial over his alleged plot to overturn the presidential election results of 2022 in a bid to remain in power.

Donald Trump says Elon Musk has gone completely off rail with his announcement to form a third party in the two-party system of the US political landscape. In a long post on Truth Social Trump remarked that it has never worked and has only contributed to “total disruption” and “chaos.” Taking a jibe at the Left-Democrats Trump likened it to a third party which has lost its confidence.

Trump has threatened countries which align with the policies of the BRICS group, calling the policies “anti-American” Trump vowed to impose additional tariffs to the tune of 10% on the countries.
China’s spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mao Ning said, “BRICS is an important platform for cooperation among emerging markets and developing countries, it advocates openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation. It’s not a bloc for confrontation. Nor does it target any country…[…] trade wars and tariff wars have no winners.”

Donald Trump has said in the meeting scheduled for today with Netanyahu they are likely to discuss a permanent deal with Iran. Trump further noted they are close to a deal on Gaza.
