22-year-old Kate Douglass won the gold medal in the 200m breaststroke by defeating South Africa’s Tatjana Schoenmaker at the Paris Olympics 2024. The 200m breaststroke is not an easy race, considering several swimmers have faced challenges in the past.
On the other hand, veteran American swimmer Lilly King, competing in what may be her last Olympic tournament, didn’t have a good outing as she finished outside the medal standings in the final. Despite not winning, the veteran congratulated her fellow American swimmer Kate Douglass, who is currently regarded as one of the finest swimmers in the world.
With this win, the U.S. swimming team secured its fourth gold medal, along with 6 bronzes and 10 silver medals, demonstrating once again why they are considered the best swimming team in the world. Douglass won her first Olympic medal, a bronze, at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics. After years of hard work, she has finally managed to cross the final hurdle and claim her first Olympic gold.
