Taylor Swift’s much-anticipated 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” drops Friday, October 3, at midnight ET. The album marks Swift’s return to her traditional fall release pattern after last year’s spring launch of “The Tortured Poets Department.”

Produced with longtime collaborators Max Martin and Shellback, the 12-track album features only one guest artist – Sabrina Carpenter on the title track. Swift created the album during breaks from her record-breaking Eras Tour, flying to Sweden between shows to record with her production team.

“I care more about this record more than I can even overstate,” Swift shared during her appearance on the “New Heights” podcast with fiancĂ© Travis Kelce. She described the new music as “a lot more upbeat” and “fun pop” compared to her previous album.

Fans worldwide can access the album simultaneously, though release times vary by location – 5 AM in the UK, 9:30 AM in India, and 9 PM October 2 in Pacific Time. The album has already broken Spotify’s pre-save record with over five million fans signed up to receive it instantly when released.

Physical versions include extensive Target exclusives with colorful variants. Approximately 500 Target stores will open at midnight to sell limited-edition versions, including “The Crowd Is Your King” edition in “summertime spritz pink shimmer vinyl” and three CD variants titled “It’s Frightening,” “It’s Rapturous,” and “It’s Beautiful.”

Adding to the release excitement, Swift will premiere a three-day theatrical event called “The Official Release Party of a Showgirl” at cinemas worldwide from October 3-5. The 89-minute program features the world premiere of her music video for “The Fate of Ophelia,” behind-the-scenes footage, and Swift’s personal reflections on the songs. The event will screen at all 540 AMC Theatres locations and thousands of other theaters globally, with tickets already generating significant pre-sales.
