Generally, a person who is born in a country becomes a citizen of that country. Rishi Sunak, born in the U.K. to Indian parents, became the Prime Minister of that country. Similarly, Kamala Harris, born in the U.S. to mixed parentage, became the Vice President of that country.
But now there is a question mark about the citizenship of children born in the U.S. to illegal migrants. Donald Trump says the children born in the U.S. to illegal migrants cannot be given citizenship. Thousands of people affected by new rules have approached courts against this unjust rule. Courts have given relief for such persons.
One can become a citizen of the U.S. also by residing in that country for a certain number of years. This is called naturalized citizenship. In India, a resident of 15 years can become a citizen. If you are married to a citizen, you can become a citizen of that country.
Actually, Sonia Gandhi, born in Italy and married to Rajiv Gandhi, was invited to form the Ministry. She would have become the first foreign-born person to become the Indian PM. But she asked Dr. Manmohan Singh to lead the country.

Now there is turmoil in the U.S. over illegal migrants. In fact, the USA is a nation of immigrants as the original indigenous persons are in a minority. The USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) helps people to become American citizens.
The new Trump order has created more problems for American society. The Americans have adjusted to live with a large number of immigrants. The immigrants are not a burden on America. According to rules, all immigrants regardless of legal status are able to earn a living as independent contractors or start a business using ITIN or SSN.
The ITIN stands for Individual Tax Identification Number, while SSN stands for Social Security Number. The mess Trump is creating will have to be cleared up by his successor in January 2029.
